Python remote jobs in Europe 2026: 40+ companies hiring across the EU right now

Remote work in EU tech settled into a stable equilibrium in 2026. Some companies are fully remote (GitLab, Doist), some are remote-first with quarterly on-site (N26, Sourcegraph), some are hybrid 2–3 days a week (Zalando, Bolt), and a rare few forced full return-to-office (Booking.com Amsterdam, Palantir London).

For Python developers, remote-EU is the biggest arbitrage in the market: earn Berlin/Amsterdam rates while living in Warsaw, Lisbon, Porto, Cluj, Sofia, or Riga. This is the working list of who's hiring, salary bands where public, and how to apply.

How to actually apply

Where to find current listings:

  • We Work Remotely (weworkremotely.com) — best global remote board
  • RemoteOK (remoteok.com) — good filter for Python + EU-eligible
  • Remotive — curated, EU-friendly
  • Himalayas (himalayas.app) — filter by role + location eligibility
  • The Hub (thehub.io) — Nordic remote focus
  • honeypot.io — reverse job board, EU-first, engineers get contacted
  • Landing.jobs — Portugal-founded, strong Iberian + EU remote coverage
  • LinkedIn Jobs — filter "on-site" off, filter Python, geographic remote-EU

What to include on your remote-EU CV:

  • Your time zone in Europe/City format at the top (e.g. "Europe/Berlin, UTC+1/+2")
  • Country of work eligibility explicitly ("EU citizen, EU work-eligible")
  • Async writing samples — a public tech blog or Substack, even one post, signals async fluency
  • English fluency level honestly stated (B2/C1/C2) — no cheating, they will find out on call 1
  • Two or three deployed projects with live URLs, GitHub links secondary
  • A note on hardware / setup if fully remote — good home office matters more than juniors realise

Common remote-EU interview traps:

  • Call 1 is always English fluency + async communication check. Bad camera / bad mic / poor English = auto-reject regardless of code.
  • Take-home projects are usually 4–8 hours, not the "quick 45 minutes" recruiters claim. Budget the time, deliver clean.
  • System design comes earlier at remote-first companies than in-office. Because senior remote-EU is expected to work independently, they test for it on round 2 not round 5.
  • Culture fit is coded as "async communication style" — if you need Slack replies within 5 minutes, remote-first isn't for you and they will screen for that.

Salary negotiation for remote-EU:

  • Public bands give you the anchor. If GitLab lists €55–82K junior EU, apply and expect an offer around €68–75K.
  • If the company doesn't publish bands, ask for the range on the recruiter screen. Half will tell you.
  • Cost-of-living adjustment: most remote-EU-first companies pay by role, not location. A Portuguese junior at GitLab gets the same €68K as a German junior at GitLab. This is the arbitrage.
  • Sign-on bonuses at senior level are increasingly on the table in 2026. Ask.
